>>For Auld Lang Syne, My Dear 2008

31 12 2008

winter-leaf-with-droplet-renew22

Should auld acquaintances be forgot,

And never brought to mind?

Should auld acquaintances be forgot,

And auld lang syne?

For Auld Lang Syne, my Dear

For Auld Lang Syne

We’ll take a cup of kindness yet

For Auld Lang Syne……

*********

For some, it is a celebration of the achievements for the past year

and an expection of continued success in the New Year.

For some, this year might be an awful year with an optismistic hope for a better year ahead.

No matter what, let’s kick ass and forget our old conflicts with the people around us, our old defeats that shattered our confidence and our old victories that we could only look back on. Bid farewell to 2008, welcome 2009 with open arms as we renew our relationships with our friends and family, pick ourselves up from the defeats that we had encountered, and hit new heights! Certainly, 2009 would be our best year yet!

To my family and friends, a Happy New Year for Auld Lang Syne.

>>Attitude determines altitude

30 11 2008

404239692-pa539Do you always have that ‘whatever/so what’ and ‘who cares/I don’t give a damn’ attitude? Are you the half-empty kind of person rather than the half-full person?

STOP THAT THINKING. IT WILL GET YOU NOWHERE!

I mean yes.. I do agree that sometimes in life, we do encounter low points in life. It is painful. And when we are in that circumstances, we tend to give up and we blame everything in the world. We decide to adopt that ‘who cares’ and ‘what’s the point, it’s not going to work’ kind of attitude to approach our problems.

But my friends, come on, things will only get worse when we use the ‘what’s the point attitude’ to approach circumstances, this negative attitude will always rob the discipline and the determination that we require to change things and to improve our conditions.

Only when we take full responsibility in our lives, and be grateful in everything, then we can turn things around. By taking full responsibility, it means that giving up on all our excuses, all our victim stories and blaming of external factors that screwed up of what we want to achieve. We have to take up the position, the position that has the power to make things different. Right now, your attitude is a matter of choice -  the choice being 100% responsible for everything that happen to you. You take 100% responsibility of your own life. There is no room for excuses, no room for ‘I am a victim too’ stories and no room for external factors.

Being grateful in everything we do also mean that we are not taking things for granted. We have to cherish everything that is around us. Always be thankful of what you have got, and not grumble about what you do not have. Count your blessings.

There is this saying: ‘Your attitude, not your aptitude, determines your altitude!’ Your attitude affects everything in your life. It affects how you think, how you act, how you handle situations and of course, how you approach life. I truly believe that by developing a positive attitude towards life, we would definitely be happier and of course, the ability to handle circumstances more positively. Naturally, things will turn out fine!

My friends, the past is the past. It doesn’t matter! Stop brooding about the past, learn from mistakes AND MOVE ON! What’s more important is the choice you make, the attitude that you want to adopt to face the future.

Come on, let’s get going!

>>Protect your dreams

13 11 2008

teamwork51Let’s not talk about exams! Just wanna take some time off my exams to do other things and I chose blogging :)

Right, I was just browsing through my movies folder and I came across this film named “The Pursuit  of Happ’Y'ness”. I have to say this movie is one of my favourites because it’s written based on a true story… Yes! and I love biographies! I’m like so drawn to these stories not only because they are inspirational, but also the process of how they have managed to overcome adversities, poverty, disabilities, difficult childhoods to become really successful individuals.

Right… I am digressing away…. Come back come back!!

Okie… In the movie, I came across this sentence spoken by Will Smith in one of the scenes that’s really inspiring and it strikes me quite a bit.  Here it goes…

“You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you that you can’t do it. You want something? Go get it. Period.”

Woah… seriously, this quote, to me, is really powerful.  I managed to find this scene on youtube! Watch it!

Well, basically, that’s it! Just wanna dedicate this to all my family members and friends, any person who happens to read this blog entry.

To my psyc peeps, get through the exams, do well, be motivated with this quote, get into honours! :)

Right, it’s dinner time and a time of real hard mugging!

>>Catching a breather

22 10 2008

Wow! Finally, I’m done with my research presentation to the year 2s! together with my psyc buddies, I thought we put up a really good show! And of course, we managed to put our points across and made the year 2s understood what we presented, which was really good! Oh! We made it engaging as well! hahaha.. Seriously, I am proud of you guys!

Alright, now that this is over, I am now catching a slight breather before I continue on conquering my other hurdles! By the way, I have 100% worth of assignments to hand in on this coming Monday.. and yes, that’s a nightmare. Well, i think it should be manageable.

“Come on! Come on! This is going to end really really soon and you are going home!”

To end off, I have three reasons to be happy today…

….. 1st, presentation’s over!

……….. 2nd, won money in 1/2 round mahjong just now!

……………… 3rd, bought a crate of mangoes!

Alrightys! Time to work on my research report!

Just some random pics with the psyc buddies…

The 4 of us… starting from the left, skye my housemate, then lynette the skinny, then jane the sleepyhead and lastly, me! Now I know why jane didn’t want to stand on the right, because it will make the your face looks damn big…. just like this one…

This was taken before the above. Seriously… lynette, you are really good at photography. But seriously, no matter how good your photographic skills are, without nice-looking people like us… the picture will still not look nice. =P whahahaha!!

Embracing the world of psychology! with jane trying to steal my plastic bag!

Some random pics..

Alrightys! More photos to come when I dedicate a tribute entry to my psyc mates! Stay tuned! =D

>>Hurdles for the month ahead! Crunch Time!!

16 10 2008

I will be home in exactly a month’s time! I am really looking forward to it. Back home with my family, back to work, back to friends!

However, there are quite a number of hurdles to clear before that day eventually arrives.  2 Assignments (1 60% weightage research report and 1 25% lab assignment), 2 presentations, 1 Lab exam and of course, the 3 end of semester examinations (10, 13 & 15 Nov respectively) are waiting for me, like hurdles on the 110m running track.

Right, gotta clear them ALL without toppling them or falling over before I sprint with all my might towards my home sweet home!

Time really flies in this semester. Well, as compared to the other semesters, I have my psyc buddies this time round! Really gotta give tribute to all of them for their companionship, for their advice and the times we spent together mugging, doing projects and the list just goes on and on……………..

Seriously, you guys have made my life in Year 3 much easier.  I really look forward to the day that the four of us will be able to do honours together, become housemates and bitch about our supervisors. Hahaha..

The journey to our honours programme starts right now. Let’s finish this race victoriously!

Alrightys! Gotta take a nap.  Haha.. so anti-climax (an inspirational speech followed by a nap… how nice…)

Well well, 休息是为了要爬更高的山,走更长远的路!

Oh, before I go, my psyc buddies are Skye my housemate, Jane the sleepyhead and Lynette the skinny.

Haha.. I promise to dedicate an entry for the 3 of you when this semester ends, alright?  Now, leave a comment and go back to your developmental psychology essay.

Ta!

>>My housemate Skye’s pattern

22 09 2008

This is Skye, my housemate.  He likes to say this to me… be it rain or shine…

Before I know anything, he will just open my room door and shout…

>>>> “Wah lau….. 你又要出什么pattern?!” If not, when things happened, it will be “Wah lau… 你又出pattern!”

My reply will always be…. “Simi pattern?!?! Oh ya! I like to play badminton! Because my pattern is always more than badminton (haha, quite rhyme right?)!”

Thought of the day: One pattern a day, keeps the housemate skye away! =)

P.S: I don’t really know how to play badminton though.

This is my housemate, skye, with my new threadless Ace design tee! Ta!

>>Housemate Guowen Graduation!

10 09 2008

Congrats Guowen! ….on your graduation! Indeed, it is this moment that will make us feel that all the mugging, fustrations and stress through these years are all worth it.  Good job, housemate!

So just before the day ends, let me give you the thought for the day……

“Upon your graduation, hold your memories in one hand, but leave the other open.. for your life is just the beginning and the world that awaits you is endless

Once again, let me present…………… Mr Graduate!

P.S. No photos will be uploaded.. Apparently the photos screwed up, blurred image.. shivering hands due to cold weather…
